On March 26, 2013 we were paged to an brush fire at 96
North State road in Genola. Genola Assistant
Chief 172 noticed while passing that it was a garage and fire was already
venting though the roof. A page was sent out to Goshen and Santaquin for help,
Genola Engine 171 arrived on scene and found the nearest fire hydrant too far
away for our 1,500 feet of hose. A page was sent out for a water tender to bring us water to
fight this structure fire. Santaquin Truck 141 arrived on scene with more
manpower and it was determined the best way to get water to this fire was to pull hose
by hand though the field to the hydrant. With the combination of a water tender
and the hydrant the fire was knocked down quickly.
This is what we found as we arrived on scene. There was a large fuel load of used tires stored in the garage along with gasoline in a vehicle that started the fire.
After the fire was knocked down.
Hose line though
the neighbors field to the nearest hydrant.
Office space
on the side of the garage was saved and only suffered minor water damage.
