We were paged out to help Goshen and Santaquin on a house fire, upon arriving we were asked to hook a hydrant and lay out 1200 feet of our LDH (large diameter hose) to support the 3 engines already engaged in knocking down the fire.

Flooding In Genola
On September 7th heavy rain fills in a portion of the Highline Canal above Hillside Drive with rocks and mud from West Mountain.
With the help of two backhoes (the Town's and a resident) we were able to get it cleaned out before it breached. A weather site in one of the orchards in Genola recorded 2.2 inches of rain, much of it coming down within a hours time.

Garage Fire
On March 26, 2013 we were paged to an brush fire at 96
North State road in Genola. Genola Assistant
Chief 172 noticed while passing that it was a garage and fire was already
venting though the roof. A page was sent out to Goshen and Santaquin for help,
Genola Engine 171 arrived on scene and found the nearest fire hydrant too far
away for our 1,500 feet of hose. A page was sent out for a water tender to bring us water to
fight this structure fire. Santaquin Truck 141 arrived on scene with more
manpower and it was determined the best way to get water to this fire was to pull hose
by hand though the field to the hydrant. With the combination of a water tender
and the hydrant the fire was knocked down quickly.
This is what we found as we arrived on scene. There was a large fuel load of used tires stored in the garage along with gasoline in a vehicle that started the fire.
After the fire was knocked down.
Hose line though
the neighbors field to the nearest hydrant.
Office space
on the side of the garage was saved and only suffered minor water damage.

Open Burning Information...
Department of Air Quality (DAQ) has set up a website and are asking people living in Residential areas to register online to obtain a burn application. This will have to be done prior to obtaining a burn permit from us. Every fire department will be doing this throughout the state, as per the new law R307-202-7 that went into effect on March 1, 2013
This effects only Residential burning only, Agricultural permits that were issued by Genola Fire Department are still valid to use. If you live in a non Greenbelt home 2.5 acres and smaller you will need to go online and obtain a burn application before you come to the fire station.
We understand there will be a three (3) day turn around period to receive it back so please plan ahead as we cannot issue one without it.
After March 30th you can use this open burning link to start the process.

Cold Weather House Fire
On January 4th we were paged out to a structure fire at a home in Genola. The fire call started at 3:00am and was minus 5 to minus 10 degrees during the call. Santaquin and Goshen responded to give us a hand on this difficult fire. A search was made along with a interior attack, no one was found inside the home. Structural compromise from fire made interior extinguishment dangerous and firefighters were pulled from the house, which then moved to a defencive mode. The cold temperatures made firefighting hazardous with icing of equipment and roads. It took a total of 6.5 hours to get it under control.
