Structure Fire Training Day

Santaquin hosted a live structure fire training on December 6th, fire departments from the southern end of Utah County participated. Besides Santaquin there was Rocky Ridge, Payson, Goshen as well as 5 Firefighters from Genola. It was great hands on training you just can't get anywhere else, a lot was learned as well as brushing up on skills that thankfully we don't have to use much.

Fireworks and Open Burning restrictions

Due to the high temperatures and low humidity expected in foreseeable future, your Genola Town firefighters are asking all Town residents to use the Genola Town park to light their fireworks. Looking around town you will notice high weeds that are ready to start with just a spark.
If you use the Genola Town Park please clean up after yourself and make sure that all hot embers are dead out.

No Open Burning will be allowed until further notice for the same reason.

Travel Trailer Fire

On June 26th we were paged to a brush fire on West Mt. Enroute we learned it was actually a travel trailer that was on fire, we arrived and found the owner had extinguish the fire using 2 dry extinguishers and some extra water in jugs for his trailer. After further investigation the cause was a birds nest in the vent cover for the propane/electric fridge.

New Water Tender

We received a low mileage 2009 Freightliner truck from the state of Utah to replace our old Mack truck. The photos below show the transformation from one truck to the other. We could not have done this without the skills of our Volunteer Fireman on the department. This work saved thousands of dollars that would have come out of the towns budget.

This is the old Mack Tender
